I picked this up because my band just made a record and we through some fuzz on the bass on a couple tracks and I wanted to reproduce that sound live. My only regret is not having this before we went into the studio. The wizards at EHX have made the best bass fuzz/overdrive/distortion ever. Seriously. I don’t like the words “best” or “ever”, but they fit the bill here. The blend knob is a brilliant idea. I had something similar to this on my old SWR 750x bass head, but my GK MB Fusion is just a little (infinitely) easier to haul from gig to gig. The blend knob acts as a wet/dry so your low notes still have thump and weight to them when you’re distorting the hell out of them. The tone shaping capabilities are excellent, from a little bit of sizzle, to full on “Bass solo take one” madness. The Gate is easy to set and intuitive and the Crossover functions (high and low pass filters) are really fun to play with. IF there was a way to give a six star review, I would. This thing will be on my pedalboard for the rest of my life.

I really love the individual effects on the pedal – in fact, that’s it’s downside. Te fuzz is amazing and the noise gate and filters let you tweak the fuzz almost indefinitely – but I really wish the crossover filters or noise gate worked when the fuzz is turned off.

To clarify: even though the crossover has it’s own stomp button it *only* works when the fuzz is enabled as well.

Awesome fuzz with a lot of tonal variety, but, I am very disappointed with the physical pedal itself. In order to change the batteries you have to take out four small, cheap screws to remove the bottom plate of the pedal, which on it’s own is a hassle, but to make matters worse the second time I tried to install the battery (the 9v that it came with was dead on arrival) two of the four screws stripped out. Eventually was able to get one of them out, but wound up breaking a corner of the back plate off when attempting to fix the second stripped screw. Ultimately I just gave up on batteries, I bought a power adapter and taped the bottom shut so now I can use it without any nonsense. I love the tones I can get out of it, really cool, gnarly fuzz. Honestly I would expect a pedal this expensive to be better designed, heck, at the asking price I would figure they would just throw in a cheap power adapter with it. Overall I am happy with it, but it sure caused me a headache the first time I tried to use it.
